Enhancing Digital Skills of Hard-to-Reach Adults for Better Life Chances
01 Gamification of Digital Tasks – Guideline
Hereby we will produce a "Scenar ios Based Guidance" for adult educators to enable them to facilitate hard-to-reach adults to gain digital skills.
Steps of gamification of digital tasks "Scenarios Based Guidance"
1- We will determine goals (to be realized through digital skills) at first.
2- These goals will be selected out of real life tasks (bank transactions, searching how to cook a meal on the net, online shopping, and etc.). This will enable us to keep our target group members motivated.
3- In order to reach that goal, some (or many) tasks (from easy to difficult) will have to be completed.
4- While trying to complete one task an educational video will be offered. If players know the
video content, they can simply skip it. If they don't know, they will watch the video to learn how to do the task. Then they will be able to continue. At each step, a gamification element will be ready for them. They can be challenged or awarded.
5- When they reach their goal, the success will be their award.
In the process, we will also work on changing the mentality, seeing real life situations as parts of a game we have to play and integrating gamification elements into the real life situations and overcome challenges with a more innovative and enjoyable perspective
02 Open Interactive e-learning Platform - "My Digi Space"
open interactive e-learning platform will be established, providing wide European audience with open access to all project outcomes, and also offering dialogue opportunities with the representatives of partner organizations and other individual players.
The platform will include videos showing how to accomplish digital tasks with simple examples. Animated explanation videos have become the most engaging form of visual communication and the most attractive media on the Internet, that's why we prefer them. There will be two options on the platform.
1- Watching the videos and acquiring necessary digital skills; This will enable us to address
immediate needs of our target group.
2- Participating in the gamification practice (start), identifying a real life task (requiring to benefit from digital skills - final goal), accomplishing simple tasks in between, in a gamified atmosphere; This will enable us to increase motivation.
The platform content will be built up in ten months through accumulating guidance, services and papers step-by-step. The platform content will be developed with the collaboration of both involved adult educators and groups of hard-to-reach adults.
The basic platform will be available in partners' languages.
03 Mobile Application -
My Digi Box
Mobile Application will enable us to reach many more adults,since half the world now uses a
smart phone. We will carry the content of the interactive e-learning platform to the mobile application. Mobile application will only equipped with gamified digital tasks and animated explanation videos. It will also enable players to establish dialogue with each other.
